CANINE GOOD CITIZEN - This class is based on the 10 items required for a Canine Good Citizen title. Taking the test is NOT a requirement of the class – but is offered for those who wish. This excellent guideline covers useful skills that every family dog should know. AKC issues a title certificate for ALL dogs who pass the CGC test - regardless of pedigree. This accomplishment is a common precursor to Therapy Dog certification. The 10 skills include: Accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, appearance & grooming, walking on a loose leash, walking through a crowd, sit & down with brief stay in place, coming when called, reaction to another dog, reaction to distractions and a supervised separation.
*2010 Schedule: Class begins the 1st Wednesday of each month and runs 1x a week for 4 weeks.
AGILITY - Build your dog’s confidence on safe equipment, get a little exercise and help reinforce obedience skills. Jumping, running, climbing and tunneling can be its own reward! CHANDREA FARMS
Training, Service, Fun for Pets & People too . . .
Positive Reinforcement for the Teacher! :)

I recently completed Chandrea Farms' first Sampler Class, a six-week course consisting of two weeks of training for a Canine Good Citizen title, two weeks of agility, and two weeks of beginning Rally-O.  Cheryl's thinking in setting up the class in this manner was that performance dogs must have a good working relationship with the handler and must have basic obedience and manners when in the performance venues.  Throughout the class, we continually worked on all forms of obedience, and had tons of fun doing it.  The tedium that can go along with obedience training was virtually eliminated for both handler and dog by having fun while reinforcing the training we were receiving for the CGC test.

During the class, the handlers did a lot of laughing and sharing while we worked with our dogs.  Cheryl created an atmosphere of friendliness, with absolutely no competition between the handlers, just a wonderful air of cooperation, support, and caring.  I've done obedience training for over 30 years, but never have I had as great an experience as I did with this Sampler Class.  I can honestly say it was the best training experience I've ever had.  I took our two-year-old mini aussie, Decker, through the class and watched as his confidence and self-assuredness grew - he is a definitely a different dog today than he was when he started this class.

By the way, Decker was almost perfect during his CGC testing, and earned his title.  I am so proud of his growth and know that a lot of the credit goes to Cheryl and her wonderful method of training, her support, and her experienced eye which can see what needs to be changed in order to achieve greater results.  If you want a fun experience with your dog, I would recommend taking any of Cheryl's classes, but especially the Sampler class - it was so much fun and we feel so successful!!

Dear Cheryl,

A special note of thanks to you for your amazing skills and your ease of sharing those skills with dog owners looking for a happy, successful relationship with our canine family members.

After taking on two puppies at the same time and feeling overwhelmed with the possibilities of finding any sort of sanity; I am pleased to say that I am blessed with two dogs whom are a pleasure to have as members of our family. This is all thanks to the skills taught to us by you.

We love your logical, gentle approach that allows the dog to make good choices on their own. We love that you are so very successful without any forceful or abusive techniques. I often comment to family and friends that it is amazing to see you take a dog that seems to be completely unable to comprehend and within moments you have them wanting desperately to do nothing but give you whatever it is you seek.

Thank you so much for all you have given our family through your training. We look forward to many more classes in your extended course offerings.

Sincerely,

Theresa
CLICKER CONFORMATION: The art of showing dogs has changed over the years, along with the methods of training a dog to show. No more jerking on the leash or pulling on legs to get a dog to stand. The result is teamwork in the show ring and a happy, more comfortable dog who is not afraid of the exam. This class is appropriate even if you are not interested in showing. The dogs learn to offer attention, not pull or lag on leash and stand still for exam - handy at the vet's office. Handlers learn when to click and how to look for the good things their dog already does.
Call for details - Prerequisite: K9 Companion or comparable training experience.
