TRAINING BACKGROUND My training career started by living on a farm and showing dairy cattle in 4H. Later we raised and trained stock dogs without realizing we were doing that. It was just a way of life and everything on the farm had a job to do. For about 5 years we boarded horses and took in yearling range colts for a local ranch to start their ground work. Eventually we moved off the farm and missed the animals terribly.
Then I discovered agility, obedience and other competitions for dogs and was hooked. Spending time and having common goals with my dogs is very rewarding. We have received ribbons and titles in obedience and agility. Living with a dog with no training is like living with a perpetual adolescent. The dog often lives tied up in the backyard or finds its way to an animal shelter. Either way the future is questionable and the people feel bad. It is my sincere hope that by offering training, at least some dogs and their people will be saved from this fate.
Now, I still drive long distances and attend other classes and seminars because there is always more to learn. Dog training is rather like raising children, there are as many theories/styles as there are parents and kids and dogs and handlers. If one method doesn't’ work, we can try something else, with the emphasis always on Positive reinforcement and a Practical approach.
Thank you for visiting with us! Cheryl

Positive Reinforcement for the Teacher! :)
Dear Cheryl,
A special note of thanks to you for your amazing skills and your ease of sharing those skills with dog owners looking for a happy, successful relationship with our canine family members.
After taking on two puppies at the same time and feeling overwhelmed with the possibilities of finding any sort of sanity; I am pleased to say that I am blessed with two dogs whom are a pleasure to have as members of our family. This is all thanks to the skills taught to us by you.
We love your logical, gentle approach that allows the dog to make good choices on their own. We love that you are so very successful without any forceful or abusive techniques. I often comment to family and friends that it is amazing to see you take a dog that seems to be completely unable to comprehend and within moments you have them wanting desperately to do nothing but give you whatever it is you seek.
Thank you so much for all you have given our family through your training. We look forward to many more classes in your extended course offerings.
Sincerely,
Theresa
